Went out of St. Lucie Inlet on Tuesday. We left the dock about 0700 and headed to bull shark barge. Caught a couple dozen 6-8 in blue runners. Headed due E til we hit 115 feet of water. First line out Bam! Sail on. Got him in took pics and sent him on his way. Next got he outriggers out put 4 blue runners out and trolled around for about 30 minutes. Saw a sail free jump about 200 yards away, so we turned around to where we saw the jump. as we started to turn N again something bumped the deep line but didnt take it. Next thing you know two baits are trying get out of the water. I free lined one back and it didn't take long for that one to get swallowed. As I set the hook the outrigger snaps and two fish are in the air. The crazy thing is the fish that was on the outrigger was not one of the fish in the air! Well we managed to keep the two hooked fish separated and landed them both after about an hour. Darn Work! We had to pick up and run in at this point. Not bad for a short day though. Three bites three landed. and two more seen free jumping. Not to mention the Manta Rays jumping everywhere!

My family is down from NC so I took my dad out on the little boat looking for some Pompano. Of Course they stop biting! Monday we Drifted across Sailfish flats most of the day. Picked up Three Blues, four Sea Robins, Three Lizard fish, and Two Jacks. Today we headed north of the Jensen Beach Causeway and picked up one Blue and one Spanish, also three or four more lizard fish. Had fun but no Pompano!

took a couple of guys out today to see what we could find. Took a gamble and headed to find some greenies instead of my usual sardines. No luck. so about 0700 headed south to bull shark reef and found the sardines and a few blue runners. while we were jigging a king free jumped right off our stern so we decided to drop a 'dine just outside of the pack of boats. in less than thirty seconds the skunk was out of the boat. put another line out and boom a bonito hits. one more try and boom something hits and ran straight for the boats in the bait pod, he knew the best way to get free! So we stopped playing and ran due east. At about 70' we saw a really nice weed line and decided not to go any further. First line out and boom a nice king is on and in the boat. put another line out and boom it goes screaming. about 20 min into the fight a Cobia tries to eat our prop, instead we offered him a nice sardine. and with a quick gulp he takes it. after about 15 min he comes up to the boat and I quickly stick him with the gaff and he laughs as he takes it from me and heads down about thirty feet. Ouch! so he is still on and now has a gaff through his back. about 15 more minutes go by and he brings my gaff back only for it to fall out just out of reach at the surface. As I bail over the side it sinks into oblivion. Mind you we still have another fish on the other side of the boat. Now the Cobia comes back again and with two tight grips around his tail he is flung onto the deck. Whew! Another 15 min goes by and we finally get the other fish to come up off of the bottom, about a 30# Cravelle Jack. Nice picture and he swims off. So now we head up the weed line again and pick up a 'cuda and two small sharks, released. While the Cuda was on about a 30# class king eats half a blue runner and as I am reeling it in decides he want a little more. He followed the head back to the boat so I feed it back and he takes it. I reel and he releases and this went on for a while. I never did get him to swallow it. Craziness I tell you. Headed back in and just outside the inlet a school of Bonito is going crazy so we pitched a dead sardine in the mix for one last fight. So all in all not a bad day. two nice kings and a Cobia for dinner, minus one gaff!!!

Went out last Friday July 31 took some rookies from Jacksonville out. Got to Bull Shark Reef and found the bait on the bottom took us a while to convince them to bite but once they started it was on. There were a lot of toothed fish down with them and we went through about a dozen sabikis, only had four weights so we started using some old jigs. That was not the answer we just got cut off faster. Got 6 blue runners and about 24 sardines and headed east. We were eaten up with Boneheads all day. Got a nice Reef Donkey on only to have it swim down into the reef and locked us up. Fought rock for about thirty mins. squeezed out two nice kings and a bone on a quad knock down. All in all not bad.

Went out of SLI at 0600 this morning to find the bait waiting for me. Alot of boats already on the main pod so I went about 75 yards south and had a whole pod to my self. four Blue Runners, and three dozen Sardines and we were on our way to deep water at 0645. Got out to 140' and it was quiet. Slow Trolled north to and in to about 90'. Still quiet til about 0900. Then we caught a Reef Donkey and a Bonehead. and we watched a boat right beside us boat a decent Phin. And of course that is when we had to run in. Had to meet the fam and some friends at 1000.

5/9/09 Boynton Beach: Great evening of fishing during the full moon. Trolled around for about an hour and half with no luck. Headed for the reef and as soon as the clock hit 5, it was no holds barred. 30+ lb King, a yellowtail, red grouper, and a bar jack hit the ice. I am definitely looking forward to the next full moon!
