You got some nice reds in the river and some nice kings just off shore.

Shrimping is cool as hell. I've done it a few times at Sebastian Inlet with good success... Cold beer, bright lights and sweet nets. Good times! Almost as good as flounder gigging.

Sisters creek and Ft. George are shallow but holding reds
I've had luck with mud-minnows near the reeds on the south end of the intercoastal between beach blvd and atlantic-
Also heard people are getting reds out of the rocks at the mayport jetties with jigheads and pogy's.

Haven't hooked any kings yet, but have had a few spanish near the beach and a bonita out near nine mile reef on a spoon.

Bottom fishing I've been to Montgomery's, Nine Mile, and some place about 4 miles south of all that (forget the name).
I've had the best luck with Nine mile of those, but recently updated my GPS with some new locations to try near Montgommery.

Found a 10ft hole near nine mile that was full of fish last weekend.
Are you looking for more inshore or offshore?

I'd love any tips people can give for briging up the big hog sized snapper from the bottom- I'm going to try frozen cigar minnows and maybe some greenies next- but don't know the prefered rig style.

I've caught a few good red snapper...They are elusive critters (for me) I hope this helps.
Use fresh baits. The big red snapper usually like frisky live baits. Presentation is the key. Make your bait look as natural as possible. Use just enough weight to get it the bottom, a 5/0 – 7/0 short shank bronze Mustad hook and a 10’- 80 lb fluorocarbon leader. Use a Carolina rig. If you don’t get any fish and you know they are down there scale down on the terminal tackle… lighter leader and smaller hooks. Try not to bounce your sinker on the bottom too much, leave it motionless on the bottom.
Florida Sport Fishing Magazine just wrote a good article about red snapper.

Sisters's creek has a boatramp- but you won't get in there this weekend with the Kingfish Tourney-
You could try across the river, and it's a bit shorter drive at the Mayport ramp just past the ferry.

There are alot of good size trout down town near the bridges. Also sisters creek holds alot of trout and alot of nice reds. They are starting to catch bull reds at little jetties inshore. Shermans creek has alot of 20+ flounder. My neighbor caught a 22in flounder there on a 1/4 oz jig head with a soft plastic on it. And there are alot of kings right off of the beach in about 30ft of water, use pogys.
